Club de Pelota:
Built by the local Basque community with lines similar to those used in Spain. There is a beautiful hall, a “Pelote Basque” court a gym
and other dependences. It is located at the corner of Sarmiento and San
Martin Street.
Banco
de la Nacion Argentina (1908):
It
is a beautiful building with a lovely front gate and one of the oldest
belonging to the bank in the whole country. Mitre corner with Lavalle
Streets.
Italian Clock:
Donated by the Italian community, it stands at the corner of Libres del
Sur with Lastra Av.
Capilla de los Negros (Chapel of the Blacks):
Black
people were not allowed access to the Catholic Church and so, this new
chapel is built in 1862 so as to accommodate their religious practices
which involved African rituals and Candombe from the River Plate. During
the period between 1868 and 1871 it was used as a campaign hospital for
the care and cure of people suffering of cholera, yellow fever and
smallpox epidemics.
Pampeano Museum:
This
museum was created in 1939 and has seven permanent halls in which to
appreciate in chronological order, the history of the region from
pre-historical times to the present. It is very rich in elements
considered to be unique for their value such as gold and silver hunting
balls, a glyptodont carcass, weapons used in the wars that took place in
the 19th Century and a great deal of other valuable objects.
This museum is considered as one of the five most important in the
Buenos Aires Province.
Opening Hours: Summer: from Tuesdays to Fridays from 08.00 Hs. to 14.00
hs. - Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 10.00 to 14.00 hs.& from
17.00 hs. to 19.00 hs. Winter: Tuesdays to Fridays from 09.00 hs. to
15.00 hs. – Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 10.30 hs. until 16.30
hs.; Mondays closed.
