The Beaches
North
Pearl Beaches
Bathing resorts with cafes and restaurants, comfortable changing rooms,
tents and parasols to hire, recreational activities, children amusements
and volleyball courts. It is an area with excellent waves which attracts
surfers.
“ La
Perla Beaches”
This
is an emblematic segment of the Mar del Plata coastline with five
resorts and a wide variety of restaurants, tents to hire, shops and
spaces for sports activities and amusements.
“Varese” and “Corrientes Cape” Beaches
They
are located on a wide bay and
protected
by
breakwater jetties which make the waters calm and appropriate for
swimming. From the place where the breakwaters end, sports fishing can
be practiced towards the open seas. At the Southern end of the bay we
find Cape Corrientes where rubber boats, kayaks and water bikes are
rented out. On the Northern part is Bahia Varese where one can hire
tents, play football and volleyball.
Downtown Beaches
These
are the traditional beaches with easy access for those staying downtown.
They sit on a wide bay and offer a panoramic view of the city of Mar del
Plata both towards the North and the South with the Casino and
Provincial Hotel buildings. From North to South the beaches are: “Punta
Iglesia”, “Popular”, “Bristol”, “Paseo Hermitage”, “Las Toscas” and
“Torreon del Monje”.
Playa
“Grande”
This
is a complex of resorts with solarium and swimming pools and a parking
for 2,000 vehicles. It is quite a famous sector as it attracts people
from all over the country every summer. There is a service for hiring
tents and parasols, comfortable changing rooms and plenty of
restaurants. Recreational activities include specially organized
training sessions, amusements and games for kiddies, gymnastics classes,
football 5 courts, volleyball courts, paddle courts etc; The beaches also have Jacuzzi, hydro-gym classes and aerobics in the water amongst
other attractions.
