Location:
Plaza de Mayo – Montserrat
At the centre of Plaza de Mayo we find the May Pyramid, the first
patriotic monument the city of Buenos Aires had. The first Junta
commissioned its construction in April 1811 to celebrate the first
anniversary of the May Revolution.
It was modified in 1856 by the artist Prilidiano Pueyrredón by
building upon the foundations of the original.
In 1912 after some further changes it was moved 63 meters. to the East
of the original placement. The upper part shows an image of Freedom
made by Frenchman Joseph Dubourdieu.
