POLO EQUIPMENT

Polo?s equipment is very much security conscious. The rider wears white trousers, the team?s shirt, helmet, boots, knee protection, spur, polo hammer, gloves and whiplash.Caballo de Polo. Buenos Aires

The mallet or hammer: it is made of bamboo and has wooden head. Some of them are made of graphite. They measure between 119 & 137 centimeters. The Ball :It is made of plastic. In the old days they were made of wood. It has a diameter of between 7,6 and 8.9 centimeters and weighs between 99 and 127,5 grams.

Horse Equipment: The saddle must be comfortable for both the horse and the rider. The rider?s weight must be evenly distributed. A sort of blanket goes in between the saddle and the horse?s back so that it absorbs the horse?s sweat. A double strap ties the saddle to the horse?s back so as to give maximum protection to the player whilst he is playing. In order to protect the horse from accidental hits, the legs are carefully bandaged before the match.
