Basílica Nuestra Sra. Del Pilar
Location: Junín 1892.
It is the most colonial and best preserved church in its original style throughout the city. Construction was completed in 1732 as the temple of the Convent of the Franciscan Recollects. Until today the altarpieces, many of the original images and elements of worship from the time are preserved. Next to the church there is a small museum.
Cementerio de la Recoleta
Location: Junín 1790.
Formerly the place where the cemetery is located today (since 1822) was the garden of the Recollect monks. Its artistic heritage makes it into one of the icons of the tourist area. It covers close to a 100 hectares and the remains of heroes, warriors of the Independence, presidents of the Republic, writers, scientists and artists are kept here.
Bar La Biela
Location: Av. Quintana and Roberto M. Ortiz.
It had its name changed in 1942 when it became the rallying point for
young fans of motor racing. Its success prompted the development of many
gastronomic points across from the cemetery. Since 1999, it has been
declared Site of Cultural Interest by the Legislature of the Government
of the city.
Museo de arte Hispanoamericano Isaac F. Blanco
Location: Suipacha 1422.
It has one of the most important collections of paintings, silverware and images of Latin American colonial art in the world. The building is of a neoclassical style, similar to the palaces of the eighteenth century from Lima, Peru.
Plaza Embajada de Israel
This space was occupied until March 17, 1992 by the Embassy of Israel. That day, a
terrorist attack blew up the diplomatic headquarters and left a tragic
balance of 22 dead and over 250 wounded. Each tree in the square keeps
the memory of those victims.
Mansión Alzaga Unzué
Location: Cerrito 1455.
This luxurious building dates from 1919. It was built on behalf of the traditional Buenos Aires Alzaga Unzué Family. The facade of the palace has a very refined work of ornamentation, similar to the French castles of the Loire region, which combines bricks with stones. The building has three facades, one with a semicircular staircase and gallery that faces a courtyard of the Park Hyatt Hotel. In its current role as an extension of the hotel, the mansion is where luxury suites and several special reception halls are located.
