Mar del Plata Carnivals are held every year in mid-February in the city of Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires. It is a very attractive for the hot months event, as the city is filled with visitors who can enjoy them until March. It has more than 30 Corsicans neighborhood where many street musicians and ostentatious parade troupes dance to music.
It is organized jointly by CAR.MA (Mar del Plata Carnival Association), MOMO (Originally Murgas Organized Movement) and Tourism of Mar del Plata. As the main event is the Great Central Corso, where all street musicians and bands are presented. Once all the groups presented, the event ends with a musical extravaganza.
The Central Corso brings together more than 100,000 people each year who enjoy the work of the various districts of the city. Each neighborhood group organizes and prepares Corsican with the street musicians and bands, and then present it at the annual event. In addition, the carnival takes place in different streets of the city, each neighborhood has its own day to file your parade.
Mar del Plata feature Carnival Parade National Reina del Mar and princesses, along with the National Guard of the Sea and all national queens invited to the event. Around 22 street musicians and bands of MOMO and CAR.MA groups are presented during the celebrations, all consisting of children, youth and adults reaching a figure of 1,200 people.
