It occupies the grounds where the original temple had been built in the 17th Century by Domingo de Acassuso. It was consecrated as a cathedral in 1957 when the San Isidro Bishopric was created and declared to be a historical place 10 October 1963. Of Gothic style and with three aisles and Great French glass works, it has capacity for 3,000 people. The main tower is 70 metres of height and has four clocks one on each side and, an organ made in France in 1906.
