This fort was built in order to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the town with features typical of colonial forts, with adobe and thatched roofs, soldiers dormitories, chapel, tower and bar and grocery store ( “pulperia criolla”), all surrounded by wooden fence and a moat to defend itself from Indian attacks. People can therefore have an idea of what it was like to live here for the first inhabitants.
