Address: Jean Jaurés 735. Balvanera
The museum was opened in March 2003, at the house where Carlos Gardel and his mother used to live. The house, a typical construction from the beginning of the 20th Century, was rebuilt by the City Government based on the original conception and turned into a museum.
The museum exhibits Gardel universe, from the myth created in every mind to the intimacy of his private life. It keeps, exhibits, preserves and divulges the cultural heritage frame into the universe of the singer, his documents and objects which are part of Porteño tradition.
Gardel, tango and the museum have left a mark in the neighbourhood. His legendary presence is kept alive by the underground station, a lane, restaurants, dance halls, wall paintings, façades.
Opening hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11.00 to 18.00 hs. Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 10.00 to 19.00 hs.
