This museum was created in 1968; it is a part of the Historical core of the city and is in charge of organizing the San Pedro Telmo Fair at Plaza Dorrego and also the Art Fair at Plazoleta St. Francis Fridays and Sundays from 10.00hs to 17.00hs. Temporary fairs, old books fairs, metal and clothing fairs are also in the care of the City Museum.
On the ground floor of the building we find the La Estrella old Pharmacy which opened in 1934 and still keeps the original old furniture and decoration.
On the top floor, there is the museum whose misión is to compile the history of Buenos Aires and that of the city inhabitants, their habits, the architecture and the way of life, to preserve, research and disseminate the cultural and folkloric heritage of the city of Buenos Aires through which its inhabitants, generated and continue genereting. Collections are composed of the most varied objects from photographs, architectural elements, furniture, maps, postcards, magazines, even the various objects of daily life.
