Usina del Arte is a multidisciplinary cultural center located in the neighborhood of La Boca. The place has to theaters and exhibitions and offers all kinds of cultural activities. The building, Florentine style, dates from 1916 and is the work of Italian Juan Chiogna. It is located in Av. Pedro de Mendoza y Calle Senguel, and for many years served as the old company Italo Argentina de Electricidad. After its restoration in 2012, it became one of the most important cultural centers of the city, both for its cultural and historical value.
Usina has several rooms, including a symphony hall with capacity for 1,200 people. Also a Chamber Hall and Mayor or Central Nave Hall, whose walls are lined with stone and granite paris, and its moldings and capitals were restored. It also has a foyer, a Golden Hall, a patio access and Micro.
The building is characterized by a clock tower that is visible from the Pedro de Mendoza Avenue. Usina is a building with great architectural importance and an interesting history, as it keeps its name for being transformed “power station” a “powerhouse of art” and be an important point for cultural activities.
Guided plant tours on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 11.00 to 17.00 pm, with departures every hour are made, and the facilities are walking in a span of 45 minutes. All tours are free, and have a maximum capacity of forty people.
