Frienship Castle (1947)

Tweet

“Some ideas last forever and others become reality” was written 20 October 1946 the day declared as Friendship day at the Nacional bar (today called La Toja). In an atmosphere of friendship and humour was thus born the Kingdom of Freedom. King Don Manuel I “King of Cups” is the way the owner of the bar was crowned where neighbours met as a “cabinet” made up of: Ministers and Guardians of the Crown, Diplomatic Corps, Consuls and Noble Titles. A constitution was decreed for the reign with 22 decrees dating from 19 October 1947. With the design of Angel Canatelli a masterpiece of architecture is built;
The city lived this period with great sense of humour but it all came to an end in 1953. The Kingdom of Friendship Castle stands on the shore of the lagoon and there are currently talks to transfer it to municipal control.
