Location: Brandsen 805
Its official name is Estadio Alberto Jose Armando, in honor to who was president of the Club in 1954/55 and from 1959 to 1980. It is one of the two most popular clubs in the country (the other is River Plate). Popularly known as “La Bombonera” because of how the seats are distributed on the grandstands: they overlap one another in order to achieve the greatest possible audience in a confined space. It has capacity for 60,000 spectators and was inaugurated in 1940. In the lobby, you can see a mural painted by Quinquela Martin representing the time when the founders chose the colours of the club. The scene shows a Swedish flag vessel (a yellow cross on a blue background) entering the port of Buenos Aires, a fact that inspired the founders to choose blue and gold as the distinctive colours of the club.
