The International Jewish Film Festival is held annually in the town of Miramar, Buenos Aires, during the month of November but with varying date. It is an event that already has 13 editions held, bringing together the best of national and international films on Jewish topics. Besides the central event a second edition takes place during the fall months belonging to the station.
The festival is not concentrated in a single film but takes place in different establishments, and basically consists of a grid of films with Jewish themes that are projected in each cinema. The grid consists of 15 films and do not necessarily correspond with the year they are projected, ie both old movies and new movies may appear.
The idea of the festival is “Cinema for all ages and themes for every taste,” so we try to encourage and generate discussion of the films. Tickets are pre-set price and there are discounts for schools and fertilizers. Projections usually last about two weeks. In recent years, the event has been sponsored by the Cinemark cinema chain.
Some domestic films have the presence of directors, who are present at the screening and then stay for the public to make questions. It is an instance in which the dialogue and discussion of ideas with the filmmakers themselves encouraged.
