The creation of the Alfredo Almada Museum was decreed in 1958 by the municipal authorities but it only had its own space when the old jail was reconverted to house it in 1964. This historical building made in 1878 had independent cells which were communicated with one another so as to adapt them for the museum; It also has a huge hall which used to be the jail’s walking yard, a smaller hall and four even smaller rooms which used to the dungeons. It is well worth a visit so as to breathe in the local history since it exhibits, even within its limited space, collections of weapons, objects belonging to the National Guard battalion Las Flores, gaucho elements, religious objects, documents, books, coins, brides’ dresses, machinery, ornaments, road signs, banknotes, antique clothing, musical instruments, photos, flags and furniture.
